How Our Gold Prices Are Set
Gold in the UAE is priced by weight. The price of each piece is worked out from its gold weight in grams, the gold rate for its karat on the day, and a making charge for the craftsmanship. Pieces set with stones or pearls also include the value of those stones.
We follow the daily retail gold rate for the UAE market. Because that rate moves during the day, the price of the same piece can change from one day to the next. The price shown when you place and we confirm your order is the price you pay; it does not change after confirmation.
- Gold value: gold weight (grams) × the day's rate for that karat
- Making charge: the cost of design and workmanship, shown per piece or per gram
- Stone value: for pieces set with stones or pearls, where applicable
- VAT at 5%: added on the total, as required by UAE law (see below)
Karat and Purity
Karat tells you how much of a piece is pure gold, shown in the hallmark as a fineness: the number of parts of pure gold per thousand. All Pinas Gold jewelry is 18K gold.
- 18K = 750 fineness (75% gold): hard-wearing and durable, ideal for daily wear and for setting stones
Hallmarking and Certification
Gold jewelry sold in the UAE must meet the purity standards set by the UAE authorities. Our pieces carry a hallmark stamped on the piece showing its fineness (750 for 18K), and many also carry the maker's mark. Where a piece is too small or delicate to stamp, its karat is stated on your tax invoice.
If you would like a piece independently tested, you can take it to an accredited testing laboratory such as the Dubai Central Laboratory. If the result shows the piece is below its stated karat, we will refund or exchange it under our Authenticity Guarantee.
Weight
Every piece is weighed on a calibrated scale. Your tax invoice shows the karat, the gross weight and, for pieces with stones, the net gold weight. Handcrafted jewelry can vary slightly in weight from the figure shown online. If the actual weight of your piece differs, we will tell you the adjusted price before dispatch, and you can accept it or cancel for a full refund.
VAT on Gold
UAE Value Added Tax at 5% applies to gold jewelry and is charged on the full price of the piece, including the making charge and any stone value. VAT is shown separately at checkout and on your tax invoice.
Visitors to the UAE can only claim a tourist VAT refund from retailers registered in the UAE Tax Refund for Tourists Scheme. Please ask us before you pay whether this applies to your purchase.
Your Tax Invoice
Every purchase comes with a tax invoice showing our trade licence details and VAT registration number, a description of each piece, its karat and weight, the gold rate used, the making charge, VAT and the total paid. Please keep it: you will need it for any return, exchange, repair or buy-back.
Exchanges and Buy-Back
If you would like to exchange or sell back a piece you bought from us, please bring it with your tax invoice. We will test and weigh it and offer a price based on the gold rate for its karat on that day.
Making charges, stone values and VAT paid on the original purchase are not included in a buy-back price. Exchanges for a new piece are priced at the current gold rate. Exchanges and buy-backs are subject to identity checks under our Anti-Money Laundering Policy.
